M.Sc. in Animal Nutrition

Description

Masters of Science Degree in Animal Nutrition is a programme to build capacity in the application of science and technology in feed processing, feed formulation and dietary manipulation to influence product quality, health status and nutrient losses to the environment. It is designed to adequately respond to the changing situation in livestock industry towards multi-objective approach to animal feeding to satisfy animal nutritional requirements as well as the objectives of farmers, millers, public authorities, environmentalists and consumers. The MSc in Animal Nutrition consists of course work, research and writing a thesis. The coursework covers advanced aspects of Animal Nutrition, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biometrics and Research techniques in Animal Nutrition.

4.1 The common regulations for the Master's degree in all Faculties as specified in statutes of Egerton University shall be applicable.

4.2 The course shall be open to holders of BSc degree with an upper second class or an equivalent grade in:

Animal Production, Agriculture, Range Management,

Veterinary Medicine, and any other degree programme deemed relevant by the Department of Animal Sciences from institutions recognized by the Egerton University Senate.

4.3 A candidate with lower second class and relevant experience and scientific publications in refereed journals may be recommended for admission.

4.4 In certain situations, the candidate may be required to take some prescribed undergraduate courses in which

a pass with a B grade shall be a requirement for

granting admission
