Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development approves book authored by the Chairman of Council
Egerton University’s Chairman of Council Amb. Dr Luka Hukka Wario made some strides in August 2021 when a Grade Six for the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) book he co-wrote with other authors was approved during an evaluation of textbooks carried out by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
“Moran English text which I wrote with two other authors came out 3rd on the list of competitors. English books by the top five publishing companies were approved for use in schools,” said the Council Chair.
“We were beaten by Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and a company called Roots Publishers. There are about 100 book publishers who compete. Last year for Grade 5 English book, we were number one,” he added.
On behalf of the University Management Board (UMB), the Vice-Chancellor would like to thank the Chairman of Council for this achievement and his contribution to Kenya’s education curriculum.
